Hair Change

I apologise for the quality of images.

For the last four years I have been growing my hair out and trying my best not to colour it. During my teens I had short pixie-like hair and I had dyed it every colour imaginable. I even went bright pink at one point. As you can imagine after so many years of colouring my hair its condition was shocking. My hair was falling out. I decided that I needed to stop colouring my hair and let it grow.

Now, four years later my hair is at the length I want it to be but quite honestly I'm bored. Being a brunette isn't that exciting, especially since I've had a rainbow of colours. I started to think about colouring it again about a year ago and every time I plucked up the courage to do it, I would back out at the last minute. Something was always holding me back - whether that was other people's opinions or my own fear. I know it sounds drastic but its taken me a long time to get to this point and I didn't want to ruin it....until about a week ago.

After a conversation with a uni friend about hair colour and stuff (yes, extremely interesting, I know), I decided "WHY NOT?!". I'm 21 and really shouldn't care what anyone else thinks, it is my body and my hair and I'll do what I want with it. So I booked an appointment with my hairdresser to get my hair coloured. She warned me it was a big job, because my hair is so dark, but I was prepared and determined. So four hours later in the hair dressers and this is the result.

I am now a redhead again. I decided on a red ombre idea. I didn't want to go too bright in the beginning (just in case I didn't like it) but I am absolutely in love with it. I'm going to go brighter the next time it needs coloured. I'm so glad I finally went ahead and done it, I feel like I'm slowly getting the real me back and I am so excited.
