Berlin Trip | Day Three

Finally we got some sunshine! I mean it wasn't blistering heat but the sun was out and at least it wasn't raining. Day Three was zoo day. It was massive. It seriously took us the whole day to go round it and we still didn't manage it all. My feet were killing me and we were both starving.

Again I'm just going to post some of my favourite photos because I took way too many and I easily took about 800 photos that day...

(I'm going to split the post into two - Zoo and Aquarium - just to make it easier)

ZOO

This is the front of the zoo, it was just amazing. There was a big Chinese theme throughout the whole zoo because they used to have a panda living there - it wasn't there when we were there...I think it died a few years ago. I was so gutted - pandas are my favourite (I'm a little obsessed).

I personally think Tigers are just magnificent! Their coat is perfect and I just loved them, in fact all of the big cats were really good. They had such a wide range of animals - the zoo was unreal. The facilities they had were amazing compared to other zoos I've been to.

The Lions were by far my favourite part of the zoo trip, we went to see them a couple times - just by pure coincidence and each time they got more and more fascinating. At one point we were just about to leave the indoor enclosure and we just heard this massive roar!! We ran over and the female lion is roaring at a child (clearly someone had got on her bad side) - now part of me felt kind of bad because she was in a cage and children shouldn't be staring at her but another part of me was completely gobsmacked. When else would I get the chance to hear a lion rawr? Probably never. (The middle photo is the female lion at this point).

(Seriously though, who knew a big cat like that could look so cute?!)

These ones were taken at feeding time and it really showed how strong and powerful these animals could be. How easy it was to tear through flesh...I certainly wouldn't want to be on the other side of the cage.

(The last couple years I've had my photo taken like this when we take a trip to the zoo so it's only right to post it!)

They had so many different species of monkey and they were all super cute - quite honestly I wanted to take one home but Cammie said I wasn't allowed. The orangutan was walking really close to the fence, minding his own business and eating. His fur looked so soft and fluffy, he looked like he could give a good cuddle haha! The ape on the other hand was such a poser - I have a good 20 photos of him just sitting and posing to the camera!! Cheeky monkey!!!

We used to have Polar bears at Edinburgh zoo but not for ages and they had THREE! I couldn't let Cammie leave without a photo with them - they are his favourite - look how happy he looks :)

These are just a few photos of some of the other animals I took photos of, I'm actually quite proud of some of the photos I took - they turned out really well!

I went completely mad over the Giraffes! I took about 35 photos of them. They are just amazing, beautiful animals and there was a baby one. How could you not love them? Look how cute his wee face is. The Zebra was amazing too - I actually think that the colours and patterns these animals have are honestly what makes them so breathtaking and intriguing.

I don't normally love a lot of photos of myself but I do with this one - it really sums up that day well. I spent it with the person I love taking photos and enjoying myself. It was honestly perfect and really good fun! I laughed so much that day.

AQUARIUM

Within the Zoo there was an aquarium...now we went into it thinking there would just be fish but actually it had multiple floors - one for fish, one for reptiles, one for amphibians and one for insects. It was huge!!

There was the biggest collection of jellyfish I have ever seen! So many different species and they all had really cool patterns on them. These photos are just a few of the ones that we seen - the last two photos were my favourite. They were baby pink with cream spots on them - yeah I know they could probably do some serious harm but how cute and pretty!! They also move so smoothly - was amazing to see them so close up.

These are a few of my favourite photos of the fish we seen, they all have such pretty colours and patterns, the place was massive and the photos don't do them justice.

We only managed to do the reptile part before we gave up and went to get food. I've always had an interest in reptiles - snakes and stuff. I just think the way they move and the way they look is really intriguing. I think their faces are perfect - almost like a drawing or painting. Such amazing creatures.

We left after this and headed to get some food. We ended up with a Chinese and we were so hungry I forgot to take photos! We done a bit more shopping, I found a Forever 21 and a Pull & Bear (they both had sales on, so you can imagine!) and as we were just about to head back to the hotel it started raining again - typical. So we jumped into a Dunkin' Doughnuts...

The one I got was a strawberry and vanilla thing and it was seriously one of the best doughnuts I have ever had. Cammie got a couple different ones, we kept meaning to go back before we came home but we just didn't have any time! Doughnut places in Scotland aren't very popular and there aren't many, so this was super exciting.

That was day three in a nutshell...I'll try and post day four at some point next week.
