Berlin Trip | Day One + Two

I've been thinking about doing a blog post on my trip to Berlin for a while now. I didn't post any of my photos on facebook or instagram or anything...purely because I took an excessive amount of photos. I'm talking like over 1000 photos (I just got a new camera) but I felt like a blog post was a good way to document it, aside from the scrapbook I'm planning to make! I'm going to do it day by day just to make the posts a reasonable length.

I'm going to combine day one and two in this post because the first day was spent in airports or restaurants eating really good food!!!

(Some of these photos are my boyfriends, mostly the ones of me)

Before we headed to the airport I'd been begging my boyfriend to go to the Filling Station for breakfast, so I thought that the perfect time would be the start of our holidays. I got pancakes with strawberries and cream - YUM! I'm honestly obsessed with pancakes at the moment. Cammie got pancakes with a full breakfast to go with them.

Once we got to the airport we found out that we were going to be delayed for five hours! It was something to do with the fact that some people in the French airport were on strike. We went for lunch at the Wetherspoons in the airport - I got a veggie burger with some chips and Cammie got some chicken thing...(honestly we done more than just eat but airports are always boring and this was one of the exciting points). I managed to spend a fortune in duty-free, which I mentioned in my last blog post. Oh how I love you Mac!!!

We finally got on our flight and I think the only good thing about being delayed was the beautiful sunset I got to see from the plane. It was honestly gorgeous and of course I had to take a few pictures! The flight was good and we just headed to bed once we got to the hotel - four star hotel bed - I've never been so happy haha.

The first full day in Berlin it absolutely poured down and it was FREEZING. I had to go buy a jumper, a scarf and an umbrella. I'm about 100% sure that it was warmer in Scotland. That never happens. Even though the weather was crap we done a lot and it was really good fun.

We had the most unconventional breakfast on the first morning - wet and cold - I had a McDonalds and Cammie had pizza. Yes, fattening but I don't care. We spent the morning shopping and looking round this massive shopping centre, it was huge. Again I spent a fortune but I got some really good bargains in the sales. I was so pleased with myself.

We took a trip up the TV tower and even though the weather was horrible you could still see for miles. I took loads of photos while I was up there but I quite liked this one.

There was a bar at the top of the TV tower and Cammie being the person he is wouldn't let us leave without treating me to a drink of my choice (I picked a raspberry lemonade) and we shared a traditional Berlin cake thing. It was amazing! It was one of my favourite memories from the trip - it will always makes me smile.

(Yes, I am very aware at how annoyed I look)

After the TV tower we dropped our bags off at the hotel and took a wander to find the Holocaust memorial. It was breathtaking. The photos definitely don't do it justice. It goes on for miles and the further you go into it the higher the blocks become and you couldn't help but be in awe at it all.

We also went to see the Brandenburg gate, again it was beautiful. It was all cordoned off for the World Cup so this is the best photo I could get without all the fences and stuff. It was still raining so trying to take photos without getting my camera wet was a bit of a challenge.

For dinner that night we found an amazing italian restaurant. It was called Vapiano. It basically had multiple stations and you were giving a card and everything you got was put on this card and you'd pay once you left. Also everything was made fresh right in front of you!! We both got pasta and I can honestly say it was the best pasta I've ever tasted (we went back again before we left). I just got some tomato pasta with cheese but Cammie got a creamy thing with chicken. Both were amazing. I'm a big pasta fan so this was super exciting.

We had an early night that night, we both just wanted to be out of the rain haha!! So that was day one and two, we ate a lot and walked a lot. My feet and converse were soaking. But it was really good fun, looking back...yeah it would of been great if it was sunny but the company was perfect and thats what counts. Day three will be up soon...
